Historical value This tree was planted by John Masefield, poet laureate, on 13 November 1934., while he was in Victoria for the Centenary. "Arden" was owned by the notable Australian poet, C J Dennis,from 1915-1938 who laid out the garden.The tree is a very fine specimen with a wide spreading crown, reaching to ground level.
